Hopefully someone will see this and be able to help me out. sidewalksg, are you still around? I finally got my computer back up and running, and I'm trying to find the backgrounds you made, as I lost a bunch. And chance anyone still has any wallpapers or fanart?

So.

Here's a folder of the music from chapters 80 - 89. I left out U2's 'With or Without You' because everyone's heard it and, frankly, that was a case of me wanting to use the lyrics without actually being a fan of the song they came from. I also left out Echo & The Bunnymen's 'The Killing Moon', replacing it instead with the Nouvelle Vague cover, only because while Echo & The Bunnymen is one of my favourite bands, I thought it might be nice to hear a different version of the song.

Leadbelly Chapters 80-89

Here's the tracklisting:

The Killing Moon (Echo & The Bunnymen Cover) - Nouvelle Vague
A Telegram from the Future - The Russian Futurists
Running the World - Jarvis Cocker
The Village in the Morning - Magnetic Fields
The Night that Minnie Timperley Died - Pulp
I Wish I Had An Evil Twin - Magnetic Fields
Christine - House of Love
Oxygen - JJ72
The Death of Ferdinand de Saussure - Magnetic Fields
In The Neighborhood - Tom Waits
Whole Wide World - Wreckless Eric
Cornershop - Babybird
Sugar World - Magnetic Fields

JJ72's 'Oxygen' was a strange choice for me because I don't like the vocals at all, but I do like most other things about it. I sometimes wonder who'd be more suited to sing it (obviously in my most humble of opinions), and I've settled on Stephen Jones, the lead singer of Babybird. The song could really do with much less grating adolescent angst, and more Burt Bacharach/Dusty Springfield soul.

So why'd I stick it in the folder? So you can be the judge.

Here's a lovely Babybird track that I hope you'll enjoy. I've always loved the twisted, sexually-charged lyrics. The mood of the album version is much different. Faster. I prefer this one...

Oh, and here's ANOTHER wonderful Babybird track (in case you don't like the first one - I'm really giving Babybird the hard sell today).

So.

I've decided that I'm going to try to post all the songs I've quoted in 'Leadbelly'. I have no idea why, but I'm doing it backwards. I'll probably start going in the right direction soon. In the meantime, here are twelve more songs. As usual, you can download the folder via this link, if you're interested...

Leadbelly Music: 90-100

It's another weird mix of stuff. There are times when I pick songs based on the mood the music creates when I'm trying to write, and sometimes I pick songs based on the mood the lyrics create instead. Sometimes, if you actually try to listen to the one or two songs I quote while reading the chapter they're from, they just won't fold into eachother.

I decided to include the year each song came out, so when you listen to something you don't think, "Jesus, this sounds DATED." Instead you'll just think "Jesus, this girl's OLD."

Here's the tracklisting for this bunch. :)

In Liverpool - Suzanne Vega (1992)
Empire - Kasabian (2006)
Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova (2007)
When the Lights Go Out - The Black Keys (2004)
Save it For Later - The English Beat (1982)
Killing the Light - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (2007)
Slow Emotion Replay - the THE (1993)
So She's Leaving - The Trews (2006)
The Abandoned Castle of My Soul - The Gothic Archies (1997)
Hopes Go Astray - The Northern Pikes (1988)
Need Some Air - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (2007)
The King is Half-Undressed - Jellyfish (1990)

So.

I'm updating this again. I have too much music I need to force on people around me. :P

I've compiled the music from chapters 100 to 105 into a lovely little folder you can download via sendspace. Just follow the link below...

http://www.sendspace.com/file/qra03h

Here's the tracklisting:

Back in Your Head - Tegan & Sara
Death - White Lies
Disclaimer - The Dears
Feel It Now - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Hymn to Her - The Pretenders
Me vs. Us - Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker
Pretend - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Someone Who's Cool - The Odds
The Cave - Mumford & Sons
Weighty Ghost - Wintersleep
Your Ex-Lover is Dead - Stars

Sort of a strange mix of stuff -- some new, some old, some VERY old. Actually, I just noticed alot of it is Canadian, too. Go figure. As always, I'd love to hear what you think, even if what you're thinking is that I have more taste on my tongue than in music.

I've been driving Alex crazy playing the song over and over again but it can't be helped. I love it too much.

I've made the switch to spendspace.com because it yousendit.com pissed me off too much a couple of weeks ago. If you like the song, let me know so I can tell Alex I'm not nuts. ;)

and the chapter...

I just got a new review from someone named 'blacktounge14'. I'm assuming her (his?) name is supposed to be 'blacktongue14', so that first incarnation isn't a typo on my behalf. Anyways, typo aside, her review had me laughing my ass off. I recommend a skimming - http://www.fanfiction.net/r/828256/

Hope you have a happy new year! Drop in and let me know how you are if you have the chance! :)

It's been a while since anyone posted here, so I thought I'd come back with something completely different. Or at least moderately different. I actually *gasp* wrote a Bebop ficlet a while ago whilst unable to sleep. I could turn it into something longer, but let's face it: I'm lazy and will probably never touch it again. But here's what I have. Don't spork me TOO hard, please. :p

Untitled, since I'm bad at titlesCollapse )

And because I can't resist foisting music off on all of you, I have a song. Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Possess Your Heart". I'm obsessed with it, seriously. Hope you all like it : )

Also, according to this article, there is a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie in the works. But they're talking about casting Keanu Reeves as Spike. Personally, I HATE this idea. Hate hate hate. What do you all think?

I haven't posted any music in a long time, mostly because my hard drive died and I lost everything. But! I have songs for you now! These are all from the "Across the Universe" soundtrack, so they're all by the Beatles, but performed by the cast of the movie. I highly recommend the movie, by the way.

So, in no particular order, the songs are:

Girl
I've Just Seen a Face
Let It Be
Come Together
If I Fell
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Blackbird

All songs available here. Enjoy!

And since I'm on a cover kick right now, I have another one for you. Shiny Toy Guns -- StrippedCollapse )
